i’ll have an adventure this weekend in berlin-munich alone while my friends fly off to london (eaughhh damn visa). what to see/eat/do/visit/photograph?
▲9 | reblogour first connection from metz to forbach got cancelled today which meant we couldnt make the other 2 connections to get to munich where we were taking the night train to budapest. even the staff were like, the earliest you can get there is tomorrow morning and we’re like ‘non, a’jourd hui!’ but they just shake their heads. so we stared at the board, and on a whim “let’s go to nancy” one stop over just to see what trains there were. and when we’re there, we see the next train’s heading to strasbourg “its on the border of france and germany, maybe there’s something there, let’s go!” and when we’re there (after getting a dinner of happy meal. mhm it came with a deck of cards, and apples and grapes), we found a high-speed train to stuttgart and managed to get train passes half off from the train manager. there, a 2 minutes transit, barely making it and finally, a train to munich. which arrived a minute before our night train was to leave. with all the germans on the trains cheering us on, we hopped off, ran, and hopped on the train, laughing and giggling and collapsing in relief. i can’t actually believe we made it when the train systems couldnt even find us a route. plus one for spontaneously
so after a day of exploring, sight-seeing and alotalotalot of eating, we’ll all snuggled up in a cosy homely hostel. we each get an entire bunk bed, and the whole room to ourselves. my stuff are piled up on the upper bunk and jimmy has crawled up there to nestle himself closest to the light to read. sunil had just passed me the pdf files of the entire song of fire and ice series, tossed in the thumbdrive from the red velvet sofa in the corner of the room. diana’s in front of me trying to make our midnight deadline for stats. we spent dinner planning out possible road trips in US for spring break. not at all getting ahead of ourselves. lovely company, delicious food, one heck of an adventure and an amazing young city full of secrets to unearth.
happy.
▲1 | reblogi’m ready for some belgium waffles and chocolate.
we’re leaving on the 8am train from metz tomorrow morning and staying for a night at bruges before taking the train to brussels for the second night. can’t wait to take more pictures, the ones i see on tumblr are stunning, super excited!
(now, if only my stats and french homework could complete itself)
▲ | reblogloving metz so far, it feels like an adventure, a holiday instead of sophomore fall semester.
landed in CDG with ‘the traveling group’ holding out a note sketch with my name on it. and then a shuttle/subway/transfer/train to metz. the village is amazingly beautiful. here’s pictures from kate/leah’s camera cause i stupidly forgot to pack in my camera charger so i’m slowly rationing till an amazon package arrive. anyway, cafes along the sideway, brick streets, beautiful french people, 2 hour dinners, bicycles and good wine. we visited downtown the past 2 days, the cathedral and lake is simply breathtaking. i cant quite believe i’ll be going to school here for the next semester.

so I’ll be in Metz, France fall semester, studying 4 days a week at the campus and spending the 3 day weekends traveling all around europe. where should i go wild/complete my bucket list/waste time/eat crossiants/drink tea/get fat/act all artsy-fartsy/do crazy stuff/take photographs at?
